Each puppy will go to it's new home with:
Our puppies are sold with limited AKC registration. Although our puppies have excellent bloodlines, the puppies are sold as pets. In very rare circumstances, full AKC registration may be offered to select buyers, if it is discussed prior to placing a deposit. In the event that full registration is deemed a possibility, the puppy will be sold with limited registration and later may be changed to full registration after submission of the recommended health testing results to Weaver Dairy Goldens for review. AKC registration is completed by Weaver Dairy Goldens prior to the puppy leaving for their forever home. The registration includes a free vet visit and 30 days of free health insurance for each puppy.
Microchips are inserted in our puppies and registered in the new owner's name before they leave for their forever homes, unless declined by the buyer. Microchips are tiny electronic devices that are injected under the skin between the shoulder blades, similar to a vaccination. When a scanner is passed over the pet, the chip emits radio-frequencies that transmit a unique identification number. The number is then compared against a database to locate the animal's owner in the event of escape or theft. Demonstration of the microchip and registration of the chip is performed at pickup.
Our microchips are effective in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Lifetime registration with AKC Companion Animal Recovery is included with the chip. Updates to owner information (address, phone numbers, vet information, etc.) are always at no cost to the owner. Weaver Dairy Goldens, as the purchaser of the chip, remains an alternate contact in case the new owners and their veterinarian are unable to be reached. We will gladly care for the lost puppy until we are able to return it to the owners.
Puppies are allowed to leave for their forever homes at 8 weeks of age. We do our best to bathe each puppy just prior to pickup. As you can imagine, puppies living with their littermates can be a little smelly. A long drive with a stinky puppy may not be as pleasant as it could be. We are happy to trim the toenails during pickup, to demonstrate the procedure so the new family can continue this task at home, for any buyer interested.
Puppies will not be "picked" until they are leaving if we are keeping a puppy from the litter to add to our breeding program. Otherwise, puppies will "picked" at the 7 week puppy play date. We try to be as flexible as possible with the pickup schedule. We schedule at least a 2 hour appointment for each family when they come to pick up their new fur baby. We ask that our buyers be on time and notify us as soon as possible if they will be early or late. We need to allow ample time to each family picking up their puppy, as the family may need to choose their puppy as well as complete the computer/paperwork and may have many questions that need to be answered. Lots of educational material is explained during the pickup appointment. Also, the AKC registration is completed, the free 30 days of insurance activated, and the microchip registration is completed. Educational materials are posted in the Facebook group prior to the puppy leaving us as well.
Buyers will either choose their puppy on the day of pickup or at the 7 week puppy play date. If there are 7 or 8 puppies of the preferred sex, it can be a difficult decision. There is a lot of information to go over, and questions are inevitable. A photo of the family with their newest member will be taken to post on our Facebook page. Let us know in advance if you prefer not to have your picture posted.
